"Such a beautiful area! Snomobiled from Stacyville in to Baxter including Shin Pond. I'll be back really soon.

Everybody was sooo nice up there too. Can't wait to go back."

-Dave P.

"We spend a week each summer in the park camping and thought it was time to do a snowmobiling trip. If there is a god's country you guys have it."

Canoeing & Kayaking

Kayaking the West Branch of the Penobscot River is a thrill for the experienced kayaker. You'll start with the class five rapids of Ripogenus Gorge, work your way down through the Cribworks and then it's on to Nesowadnehunk FallsTour the Katahdin Region by Kayak for surfing and whitewater thrills that you won't soon forget. Along the way, you'll take in breathtaking views of Mt. Katahdin.

You can also visit the many lakes and streams of the Katahdin Region by touring kayak. Touring kayaks are fun, fast and easy to transport plus they're a fantastic way to travel into shallow waters for moose watching.

Travel our rivers and lakes by canoe and experience the same scenery and solitude that was experienced by travelers hundreds of years ago. Baxter State Park is home to unspoiled lakes and ponds perfect for fly-fishing by canoe. Bring your own or rent one at Baxter State Park.

Shuttle and guide services as well as canoe and kayak rentals are available through area businesses and outfitters. Some outfitters also offer canoe and kayak instruction for persons new to the sport.
