"Such a beautiful area! Snomobiled from Stacyville in to Baxter including Shin Pond. I'll be back really soon.

Everybody was sooo nice up there too. Can't wait to go back."

"We spend a week each summer in the park camping and thought it was time to do a snowmobiling trip. If there is a god's country you guys have it."

4th of July

Millinocket Independence Day Celebration

The 2010 July 4th holiday included 3 days of family fun and entertainment.  Beginning  Friday, children enjoyed Faerie House building, old fashioned games and a tea party.   Local talent performed in the afternoon and the day concluded with a street dance featuring the band Amethyst. Saturday morning hundreds of people watched a fun and large parade with Military tributes, music, floats and trucks.  Joining in the big parade was the children's costume parade.  The Children all dressed up as their favorite storybook or movie characters and the costumes were colorful, clever and fun.  Following the parade, Millinocket's own Clyde Folsom read a poem and children flocked to Jerry Pond for Kid's Day.  The afternoon brought more musicians to the bandstand as Perpetual e-motion performed, followed by more local talent.  A street dance at Pelletier Family Logging Restaurant, with The Hometown Band ended a busy and jam packed day.  Sunday was Military Appreciation Day, more music and fireworks.  The weather was perfect (sunny and warm) the Alumni were in town and family reunions were abundant.  Thank you to the following businesses who sponsored this year's July 4th celebration: Katahdin Area Chamber of Commerce, Town of Millinocket, Katahdin Federal Credit Union, Katahdin Valley Health Center, Pelletier Family's Loggers Restaurant, Katahdin Area Rotary, Stearns Alumni Association and Lamson Funeral Home.
