We are home to Baxter State Park where Maine's tallest peak, Mt. Katahdin rises to greet the area residents and visitors. Baxter State Park is a wilderness area of 202,064 acres. The park is intersected by more than 175 miles of hiking trails and is the eastern end for the Appalachian Trail.
